The auto mode focus tracks moving objects, neat little feature. You have to lift the flash, but it doesn't fire in auto mode unless it needs to, and if it is closed it will tell you on the screen that the flash is needed. It has a nice little IR red beam that helps focus in complete darkness. It's all around not a bad digital camera. I have a older Sony Cybershot DSC-H20 and I like the Canon better. I notice it will autofocus on closeups a lot better. Even using macro mode. I would recommend nice rechargeable AA batteries though. The Sanyo Eneloops seem to be a good choice for me so far. It uses a SDHC Class 10 memory card (not included) which compared to my Memory Stick Pro Duo that the Sony uses is about 4 times faster when I transfer the pictures to the computer.
